In September 2026, I spent one week at Two Point Studios, working alongside an artist to develop a new theme for Two Point Museum.

Collaborating with another on a project and working in an environment surrounded by a passionate, dedicated team taught me a lot about different aspects of design and the importance of communication.

Some ways I spent my week at the studio include:

Understanding how to keep a new addition cohesive to the rest of the game. What are you planning to implement and how does that affect what has already been developed?

Taking time to get feedback from multiple people on your design no matter what part of game development they usually work in.

We began the week by drafting different themes that we could add to the museum, ultimately deciding on Ancient Egypt. I designed a one-page visual theme document that we could springboard off of, filled with examples of artefacts and decorative items.

A one-page visual game design document describing how the new theme will look and some objects the player can interact with.

Using the visual design above, the artist then began creating sketches of different exhibits and decorations while I began designing a key feature that made Ancient Egypt stand out from other existing themes.

I designed a new feature where players could discover cats that could be used to give employees temporary qualifications, rather than players having to wait for staff members to level up and unlock a new training slot.

Concept sketches by the artist, inspired by the objects seen in the one-page visual design.

After documenting the design, it was time to turn to the Unity Engine and begin implementing our work. The goal set by Two Point Studios was to implement theme-specific 3D objects, such as exhibits and decorations.

Once getting used to Two Point Studios' codebase, we were able to implement a Pyramid Cap exhibit and a decorative wall piece showing an Egyptian symbol.

While it took some time to understand how a company making such a large game organises the game engine, it was invaluable to see our work inside an existing game.
